Dir en grey live in Avalon!

March 22nd, 2006 (12:42 am)

current mood: high

It was amazing.

We arrived at Penn Station (Ari, Mom, Dad and I) and we met up with Ryou at some street. 7th Ave or something? I don't fucking know! We all parted ways and we went straight to Avlaon and sat our asses down. We met a lot of cool people, although some people went by 'Kyo' a lot. I met this person named 'Die' and she was so fucking sweet as well as this Kyoka chick. I also met Anna. I've seen her on myspace and she lives near me. Uh, and everyone kept calling me 'cute' and 'adorable' and Ryou was all like "I don't understand. This girl says she's fat and she's obviously NOT" or something along those lines which made me feel really good about myself. People were swarming me. I adored it. I adored the energy of the fans. Everyone was actually beautiful in realtiy. Fans of visual kei seem to have a better way of understanding one another and being open minded.

We walked towards the back of the line and decided to wait by the side door where this interviwer for Dir en grey approached me becuase of the outfit and Mr. Labcoat guy! So we got pictures taken and were asked about Dir en grey becuase she was going to have a lengthy interview- audio. I was kind and asked her where they were coming in and when. She said we're in a good spot, and they'd appear within fifteen minutes. Sure enough they did, but at a different door. I was able to see their heads. It was a neat experience.

On line again we were filmed a LOT by cameras and asked to say something to the band and it was really cool, but people kept shoving me into the camera. Hn. I'm really hoping that doesn't appear on a DVD or something. Speaking of which, I hope they have a DVD that comes out.

Around 3:00 they put a gate up and caged us in. We did pee runs and stuff like that... nothing important. Pictures will be later. . . . . .

I'm trying not to focus on what happened beforehand when the first band played. Let's jsut say I was crushed to the point where this guy named Damien (Mr. Labcoat man!) I met had to escort me out. I was screaming, sobbing, and clawing for people to let me through. We were so packed that if I lifted my feet I could have stayed in mid air with how tight we all were. I was being elbowed in the chest and I couldn't breathe.

I shook all the way up to the balcony where I met with Die and she told me everything would be okay. She let me hang with her. Dir en grey came on and her and I were SCREAMING and CRYING. G.D.S was blasting and we were rocking out. Then everyone came on stage and Kyo looked gorgeous. Picture how they all looked during the Austin Industrial Performance, but give them a dash of energy, excitement, and glow. They were FAB! Kyo was so into the audience and kept LOOKING at everyone. Die was flipping everyone off and Shinya was gorgeous with his hair. Kaoru had his face showing. He still looks spectacular as well as Toshiya! Toshiya was really good looking actually. I just... wow.

So they started with CLEVER SLEAZOiD and it was performed to a T. They did more Withering to Death songs. All I remember specifically is that after the encore they played Mr. NEWSMAN and a BRAND NEW SONG just for US man! I loved it! Kyo had so much energy. I'm not fucking kidding you when I say this... they looked at EVERYONE. Totchi pointed at Die, Anna and I. Then Kyo looked me straight in the eyes and curled his fingers and persuaded me. Fucker. I LOVED it. They adored us and we adored them. There were RABID fucking fangirls I wanted to knock in the face though, believe me.

THE FINAL was grand. I was crying, a lot. Sobbing. I can't speak. I'm in awe. I'm so glad and happy and jovial.

I'm sorry, but I found this adorable:
Cute Moments

The show ends and Kyo begins to grab at the stand he uses all the time during the concerts. Well, he's tugging for about a full MINUTE every which way to tugg the fucker off to throw it, but can't find a way to get it off the stage (I think it was screwed), so basically he grabbed the fan to cool him off under the stand and chucked it!!! Basically I thought he was all 'I want to be American-cool too... and throw things...' because the band before hand was chucking shit.

Then... he grabs this big huge bucket and stands infront of us all all '. . .' and simply dumps the fucker on his head, he gets soaked, and then he FLINGS the bucket into the audience!

Toshiya tries to throw guitar piks into the audience on the balcony, but he fails every time and bows with his hands pressed together and simply says "I'm sorry". He was so sheepish.

Toshiya and Die hugged as well as Kaoru and Die. It was great!

I can't type more... I can't....

I'm sorry. I need to relax or something.

japanese rockstars "dir en grey" in nyc
Current mood: optimistic

american rockstars, you better watch your tight little pants...

japenese rockers "dir en grey" were in town yesterday to play one of three american dates.

as i headed to avalon in nyc, the former church- turned -club, turned limelight (and my prom afterparty. yeah man, like yeah! no.) i was shocked to see a line of kids around the block, hours before doors opened.

yes, i've interviewed a lot of bands, been to a lot of venues. this had a different feel. you could smell the anticipation. mmm mmm. some had been waiting overnight. sleeping bags, "dir en grey" personalized blankets, dressed up kids. It smelled GREAT.

hmm... this reminded me of? oh yes, the pop days circa 6 years ago. nsync, bsb, brit (when she ruled the world. and yes, she did.). when people actually camped out at trl just to get glimpse of a blockhead host and the carbon copied pop act of the day (yeah otown. sorry ashley parker angel fans. he is extremely bomb.).

but then i looked closer at the DEG fans... the faux bloody wounds, creepy color contacts. To their credit, it was a little different than a popcraze. But the fandom was coming from the same place. A cultish network of kids who related to one another with their secret passion. The music touched these kids, and now the foreign act was in touchable distance. Somehow, I dont think they copped a feel. But they did get their DEG swagger on. alraaawyt! An iamerica HOLLER to the DEG fans.

the interview was an experience.

yes, they spoke japenese.
yes, i america.

Ms. iamerica posted that on her myspace. You can visit her myspace if you'd like by typing iamericamag.com! She interviewed the band and got our pictures. I had a lot of fun, and she was incredibly sweet! I really enjoy her update on that!!

Or... you know... you could technically click here for her myspace and her website for the pictures and interviews!

This is her. I caught a picture

Ariana and I on our way to the train to get into NYC. We're PIMP!!!

Oh no! This is hotarubi being beautiful! Please refrain from touching her~!

We got there and I met the most beautiful couple in the world and found 'her' 'pad'. (LOL!)

Theres nothing wrong with being random...

Look at the above stated.

Could you miss me? :( No. I'm just an obnoxious little fluff ball of... stuff!

This is around the corner from the door. In the back you can see where they were unloading Dir en grey's stuff!

While there I met a kind young fellow~ Oh ho ho ho yes Mr. Labcoat, I must say he does look rather dashing. Mmn. Free exams ;)

Dir en grey equipment! Oh mah Gawd!

An example of some of the fans who were there. I'm enjoying the contacts. I want a pair!

Camera happy. We're waiting around and I found a nice picture opprotunity.

A gorgeous girl~ She was a real sweetie too.

I was feeling the love~

This is Ari who we must convert to LJ! >O

Fans were simply waiting in line, looking their best....

...and excited to see Dir en grey!

"fufufufu!" says Ryou. (*hides*)

And the lovely Anna has the best make up ever. Iiinaaa~

Thats a good report ^.^

I'm sorry you couldn't stay there. I saw a few people panicking and trying to get out, but I couldn't move more than half an inch to let them through x.x twas insane...

Not a report, just a perspective I guess from a simple long-time fan. Thank you though.

Don't worry about it. I couldn't breathe. I wasn't going to risk passing out let alone being killed. I. Have. NEVER. BEEN. TO. A. CONCERT. LIKE. THAT. I have been to thousands of rock concerts, believe me, but . . . that was just unorganized and also a little unexpected (well, on my part anyway).

All that matters is that I saw them and they saw me. I couldn't move for those wanting to get through, but I fucking shoved my way through. I had to claw at someones face. LOL! e.e;;

I'd never been to a concert before... it's all new to me XD

o.o! XD
I'm usually afraid of people, it's never really occured to me to go to one.
But I've found I like being squished (I complained a lot about the pit, but I rather enjoyed it XD save for hair pulling and moments where I couldn't breathe at all)

Aa. I remember you~ You had the neat bandanna! LOL! I was sweating too, but I felt bursts of cold air from up there so I was good.

Sometimes it's worth it to get bruises...

especially those people who fucking pull on your pigtails. Asswipes. You should have knocked em out.

I loved the floor myself. But then again I was on Totchi and Kao's side, between them and Kyo, and that side was a lot calmer apparently. It was tight but not violent...and if you were near the front, you had security guys pouring water into your mouth every break possible.

Posted by: ワルモノ (junshin)

Yes~! Here

I should have put one. I was just lazy to look for it again.

The interview isn't up, but it will be on her site which I'm posting up right now in this post as well. I talked to her and she's the one that gave me the tip Diru would be arriving in 15 minutes from when they were done unloading the other bands stuff.

all engines go!

Oooo! I think I remember you! I remember the Doctor guy. He was really nice and he hung with our group for most the evening. We were standing right next to him. I had the multicoloured short hair. It was a brownish red with a blonde streak and ripped up jeans. I remember him trying to help protect the girl in front of me. (Was that you?) Because she was having a terrible time. People were being such assholes! Well eitherw ay I'm pretty sure I saw you about. I know Die, so. :) Either way... I'm glad to hear you made it out safe and were able to enjoy. It sounds like the balcony or sides of the stage on the floor were much more worth it than the pit and main section of the floor which was torture!

*Blushes* I apologize for that and causing trouble. That in fact was me. I remember you I think. Were you on the right of me or the left? Did you have glowstick bracelets or not?

Mao owns your life

No need to apologize at all. :) I'm just sorry you had such a hard time in the beggining! I am very glad the concert went well for you in the end and you enjoyed it! I was the girl behind you I believe. I told you I would try and hold everyone off. The guys behind me were being fucking vicious. I had a glowstick but it was hidden until Higeki.

Mind showing me a picture of yourself? I think I remember you. REALLY remember you actually.

Don't worry about it. I survived. I was a pansy. I just have emotional problems, and that made me realize WHY I was on medication! *chu*

Add me?

If you check my seventh entry back, there is a picture of me! :D

Not a pansy at all. I freaked out in there. It was kind of scary being crushed up against so much people and I have breathing problems in tight spaces so I started to panic a little myself. I'm glad you made it out okay AND were able to enjoy the concert. :)

And yes! Added!

Yah...you know what happened to me? I was RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of that fahcking crowd...and I just gutted by about 13 different elbows...by the time the opening act finished...I ran as fast as I could to the washroom because I threw up!

After that I came back in and stood by the stairs up to the balcony and met some more amazing girls and this really tall hawt guy dressed in a red jacket. REALLY hawt! XD I still had a good view, though mostly obstructed by hands...but you know what? As long as I got to hear the music I didn't care! I still had an amazing time!

Wasn't too happy at the booth afterwards though...got pushed so hard into the table it was jamming into my stomach (almost puked again...on the merchandise no matter!)...and THEN when I tried to buy my stuff...the fahcking bitch at the table IGNORED me for ten minutes while taking the orders of people who had come up AFTER I had shown up. I was so pissed off...I was standing there drumming my finger nails on one of the CD's and huffing and TRYING to be patient...and when she FINALLY decided to acknowledge me...I grabbed the first two things I could get my hands on and said in a REALLY pissed off voice "I want one of the posters...one of the stickers, and these two things!" The two things I grabbed being Withering to death and the Average Psycho DVD.

But either way...I still had an awesome time! You and the other people my buds were sitting with were so awesome!!!

Hee hee...Tuna tuna...tuna tuna...*dances around* XD

Wow. That sucks. I know about the merch counter. I felt the same way. I began to hysterically laugh in random people's faces because I was all sing-songy 'If you don't let me out then you cant get in~~~~ Haw haw!'

Tuna... TUNA IS SO YUMMY *dances* unst unst!
